Lady Cubs Win Sixth Straight with Thrashing of Rebels

The rivalry hit off last night between Madison (19-4) and Southwestern (14-8) in a girls volleyball match at Madison Consolidated High School on September 20, 2016.

Madison came in on a five game winning streak trying to keep their streak alive against the Southwestern Rebels.

Madison came out hot winning the first set 25-13 with that Madison got 13 of their 25 points on kills while Southwestern started off on a bad note having eight errors in that first set. In the second set, Southwestern came out with a little bit more of a fight and challenged Madison to a 25-18 set.

Madison took a 2-0 advantage on Southwestern, but the Rebels were not giving up. Southwestern battled Madison in the third set going back and forth, but Southwestern had enough gas to win the set by a score of 25-19.

In the fourth set, Madison came out on a tear starting the set off with a 9-2 lead before Southwestern took a timeout. After the timeout, Madison just kept on rolling and winning the fourth set of a final of 25-11. Madison prevailed three sets to one.

That gave Madison its 20th win of the season resulting in their 6th straight match. The loss gave Southwestern their 9th loss on the season. The Lady Cubs played a well rounded match with help from Madelyn Thomas (12 kills), Sage Sproles (9 kills and 7 blocks), Hannah Imel (2 aces and 5 kills), Ainsly Liter (2 aces and 7 kills), and Kingsley Hanson (9 digs).

Senior Sage Sproles said “ Southwestern is a good team, it’s always a good feeling beating your town rival. We look forward to playing Jeffersonville on Thursday and hopefully we can come out with our 7th straight victory.”

*Update: The MCHS volleyball team beat Jeffersonville in five sets.
