Red Devils Size too Much for Cubs

Last Friday the Jeffersonville Red Devils (1-2) took on the Cubs (1-3) in another HHC football match up. The Cubs finished with more total yardage, but could not convert when needed to, resulting in the 28-9 loss. The Red Devil defense forced an interception that was returned for a touchdown. A kickoff return was also ran for a touchdown by the Red Devils.

Madison defense stood strong for the team once again, only allowing 14 points to the Red Devils’ offensive drive. Junior linebacker, Carson Howser, lead the team with four solo and four assisted tackles on the defense. Sophomore lineman, Gage Sproles, had a good showing with four tackles alone.

Junior quarterback, Andrew Frazier, was named player of the game for the Cubs, completing 17-29 of his passes for 142 yards and one touchdown. Gage Brewer, a junior running back, lead the way on the ground with 61 yards on 14 attempts. Senior running backs, Corbin Hughes and Gabe Stoll chipped in with 49 yards combined. Stoll also brought in some yardage  through the air with 64 yards on six receptions. This was still second on the team to sophomore, Clay Hamby, with seven receptions bringing in 75 yards and one touchdown.

The Cubs remain in the HHC and take on the Jennings County Panthers for this year’s homecoming game. The Cubs look to win “The Battle of the Railroad” trophy back after the introduction of the trophy last year. The task, the Cubs seem ready to complete.
