Editorial: American Lives Are More Important Than Syrian Refugee Asylum

There has been a great debate on whether Syrian refugees should be allowed into our country or not. There are people who declare The United States of America should let more people into our country because we have the resources to take care of these people. What they do not realize is that we need to protect our own people before we help others. Also, ISIS has infiltrated the Syrian refugees, therefore they should not be allowed in our country.

The attacks on Paris were done by people who claimed to be “refugees” but were actually in ISIS. Paris opened their borders to these people and they repaid them by attacking them. Even though all Syrians are not in ISIS, we still have to protect ourselves by keeping the potential threats to our society out. Since there are no definite ways to make sure that they are not totally involved with  ISIS, we need to keep our borders closed to Syrian refugees. We cannot take any risks.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott

More than half the nation’s governors say they do not want Syrian refugees but ultimately the decision is to the federal government. Texas Governor, Greg Abbott, tweeted: “Texas will not accept any Syrian refugees & I demand the U.S. act similarly. Security comes first.” — Greg Abbott (@GregAbbott_TX) November 16, 2015

Most all of the governors agree that security comes first for them and that is why they are declining that refugees come to their state. Georgia’s governor, Nathan Deal, said Georgia will not accept Syrian refugees “until the federal government and Congress conducts a thorough review of current screening procedures and background checks.”  Fear of being attacked is in many Americans hearts.

The threat of being attacked is too strong, and we should not take any chances. We, as Americans, have to step up to the plate and stand as a country for our safety. Before we let anyone into America, we have to be 100% sure that we will be safe.
