This weekend MCHS will be sending six wrestlers to compete in the annual semi-state wrestling competition. Half of the six are three seniors: Otto Kling, Ethan Schafer, and Gabe Bennett. The other half, all juniors, are Eric Leach, Daunte O’Banion, and Camden Spears. This year’s Cubs squad tied for the most wrestlers Madison has ever sent to the semi-finals. The matches will take place this Saturday in Evansville at the Ford Center with the first match starting at 10 a.m.

Bennett said, “I think the support we have received from the school and community has been really great.”

“It’s one step closer to what I have been working for all year. So, It’s nice to make it here, but I’m not going be satisfied with just going to semi-state. I want to make it out (to the state championship),” said junior O’Banion.

The Cubs have had a very successful state tournament thus far. Last week, they advanced 10 wrestlers out of sectional competition.

Midday Friday, the MCHS pep club organized a pep rally send off for the wrestlers.
