Imagine walking down the hall and smelling the fresh, warm donuts and just knowing it was worth waking up early for this.  Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a group of young believers at Madison Consolidated High School who meet every Thursday morning in Mr. Whitaker’s room to spread the word of God one step at a time. There are student led devotions every week – all concerning different stories and topics of God and his disciples.

A normal Thursday morning at FCA starts around 7:15 when the person chosen the week before will deliver the message.  This is followed by a discussion time, and if you are feeling up to it, you can then talk about what the devotion was over. Then they hang out, talk, and eat donuts.

FCA attendee Jobe Miller says, “My favorite donuts are the jelly filled ones.” Then right before we leave to go to first period we have a group prayer where we all stand up and pray about anything and everything on our hearts. This is a laid back atmosphere where no one is pressured to do anything they are not comfortable doing in front of their peers or the teachers who come to FCA.

“I am always very impressed with the leadership of the students in this group and highly encourage anyone who might be interested in attending FCA to give it a try,” says Brye Welty, youth pastor at North Madison Christian Church.

Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a worldwide organization that appears in schools and clubs all across the Globe. There are resources that the board of FCA puts out every week, which is helpful for devotions, just in case you are the one chosen to give the message and do not feel comfortable with writing your own.

Not all of the attendees of FCA are in athletics; we have people in theater and some in other clubs and extracurricular activities. Quite frankly FCA is for anyone. This opportunity is for all Madison Consolidated High School students who want to grow in their fellowship with God and eat donuts, of course. So come and give FCA a try this Thursday morning in room A206.
