Madison Theatre auditions for the magical and energetic show The Little Mermaid were conducted August 8th. Over 30 students auditioned ranging from freshmen to seniors. While many people might feel familiar with the show from the popular Disney movie,, the stage version ends differently and also has additional songs.

Those auditioning seemed nervous and jittery as the song “Part of Your World” could be heard from various parts of the building. Girls were to sing “Part of Your World,” and boys were to sing any broadway ballad.

There were a number of new faces auditioning for the first play of the season including senior Ben Hardin. Hardin has always played a big part in the tech side of theater but decided to try something different this time.

“All the times I’ve done tech, I’ve really enjoyed it but I feel like acting would be something I would enjoy, so I like to broaden my horizons and see what I can do,” Hardin said.

The Little Mermaid will be shown at Madison Consolidated High School in Opal E. Sherman auditorium October 6th, 7th, and 8th. Until then, the cast and crew of The Little Mermaid will be working hard to create a show full of magic and romance while creating a beautiful sets and perfecting every song and dance.
