Varsity boys soccer team is in full swing this season. They currently hold a record of 3-5-3.

Their most recent game played was against Batesville on Saturday, September 10. It was a close loss with a score of 1-0. Madison was set up to score a goal within the last 10 seconds of the game, but missed.

Their next game will be played against Seymour on Thursday, September 15.

The boys are holding a positive outlook on the team through the course of the season.

Jacob Nichols, a junior captain is content with the team. “I feel like we’ve really improved from last season as far as chemistry, conditioning, and skill goes. Our team is full of juniors so we’re a tightly knit group. Overall, I feel satisfied, if that’s a good word for it”

“My hopes for the rest of the season is to grow closer as a team, win games that we lost last year, and to make a decent run in the postseason,” he continued, “We have the coolest coach ever. My friends Gabe, Parker, and Matt have made a great decision to come play soccer this year.”

Junior captain, Sam Heitz, stated, “As a team, we feel good about the season so far. We start one senior and the rest are juniors, so we’re optimistic. Our main goal for the rest of the year is to stay healthy and finish with a better record than last year. Our coach had us focused on the right priorities, and this Saturday is planned to be the first time all season where we’ve all been healthy.”

Case Kiefer, a junior said, “I feel like we are in good position because we have beaten teams that we lost to last year. We are a team full of juniors so next year we should be even better. Our goal for the season is to keep a positive mindset and try to compete with the rest of the schedule even though they are really tough competitors. I hope in this next offseason everyone comes out to practices and conditioning because next year we could have a lot of potential as a team.”

With high hopes and positive attitudes, it is clear the boys are ready to make the most out of the rest of this season and work towards a successful postseason.
