Cubs struggle with Highlanders’ defense
September 7, 2016
The Madison Cubs took on the Floyd Central Highlanders this week to open up conference play. The Cubs suffered a 51-14 loss. Early mistakes on two big plays brought the Cubs back to their own 4 yard line, allowing a safety. The Cubs lacked a strong start which resulted in a bad game for the Cubs.
The Cubs couldn’t handle the Highlanders running game as they rushed for a total of 295 yards. Junior running back, Gage Brewer, had a strong showing for the Cubs racking up 70 yards. The Highlanders had a stifling defense that only lent two touchdowns to the Cubs.
In next weeks play the Cubs travel to Jeffersonville, Indiana to challenge the Red Devils, a tough but accomplish-able task for the young Cubs team.
