January 11th was an important day of the year in the sphere of music. It was the day that one of the most recognized music festivals in the world released its lineup and its tickets for sale to the public. The magical panic of the days before Bonnaroo have commenced.

Bonnaroo is one of the most discussed and most attended music festivals by teens and young adults around the Midwest, primarily because of its affordability, timing, and how close it is to home. The Bonnaroo Music Festival is held at Great Stage Park, a 650 acre field in Manchester, Tennessee, which is about 60 miles northwest of Nashville, and it is held in the summer from June 8th to June 11th. Bonnaroo’s general admission tickets are $274 dollars. The highest priced ticket is goes for about $550. Other popular music festivals can not compare with the easy access of Bonnaroo. Coachella, held in Indio California, has tickets costing between $400 – $900 and additional fees adding up to $150. Coachella is in the middle of April. The Panorama Festival in New York City, costs $370 –  $700, and starts at the end of July. Bonnaroo is a very affordable for four days of music in comparison.

The slogan for Bonnaroo radiates positivity, claiming that “the farm is an aggro-free zone.” Aggro is a slang term for aggression. That type of mindset appeals to younger crowds in this day-in-age, especially with everything that is going on in the world right now. A four day break from all of the worries to enjoy music is something that  can connect with nearly every person on Earth. It can be an immense stress reliever and a great feeling to experience.

Another reason Bonnaroo draws the crowd that it does is because of its insanely powerful lineup of artists. Notable performances from previous years have included Wu-Tang Clan, Kanye West, Vampire Weekend, Dave Matthews Band, J. Cole, Chance The Rapper, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

As always, this year’s lineup fails to disappoint. Headliners for Bonnaroo 2017 are The Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2, The Weeknd, and Chance The Rapper. Other notable performers are Flume, Travis Scott, Lorde, Cage the Elephant, Milky Chance, D.R.A.M, Tove Lo, and Major Lazer.
