Spirits are high as MCHS gears up for one of the most significant events of the school year. Twelve seniors are nominated by their class every fall and winter during football and basketball seasons to walk across the field/court for what Madison Consolidated knows as “Homecoming.” Six girls and six boys are paired together to be presented to the crowd during halftime. Before the night of the game, the MCHS student body votes on one girl and one boy they wish to see win the coveted prizes of Homecoming King and Queen.
Representing the senior class will be (listed as their “walk-out” couples) Mitchell Adams and Molly Armbrecht, Jackson Lynch and Mia Mires, Ben Orrill and Jayme Lee, Craig Demaree and Katie Watkins, Colin Yancey and Riley Poling, and Harrison Hall and Crisnell Cabigting.
“I am extremely grateful to be on the court; homecoming is one of my favorite events of the year. It’s going to be a great experience. I am really looking forward to representing the school,” noted senior representative Mia Mires.
In the 2020-2021 school year, underclassmen gained the opportunity of nominating one boy and one girl to represent their grade, along with the senior court of 6 couples. Fall homecoming 2022 underclassmen representatives include Luke Barron and Olivia Glasgow for the class of 2024, Abe Reetz and Elysia Danforth for the class of 2025, and Max Thompson and Lilly Canida for the class of 2026.
A golf cart parade will be hosted by the MCHS Student Council and is set to take place at 6:30 p.m. Various clubs throughout the school will have decorated a cart for the parade. Each decorated golf cart will carry one couple.
“We are going to have two grand marshals on a golf cart with our 2021 fall homecoming king and queen, leading the parade. Everyone is getting involved. The MCHS principals, office staff, and counselors are also going to walk,” described student council sponsor Jennifer Cornelius. “I think it is going to be fun, and my hope is that it’ll grow every year.”
The announcement of Madison Consolidated High School’s fall homecoming king and queen will be at halftime of the September 23rd football game against Mitchell High School. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m.
