The McDonald’s in Madison, Indiana will be trying out a new app called McDelivery. McDelivery is already in effect in areas such as Indianapolis and Versailles. The app will allow customers to pay with their mobile phones after ordering with the mobile menu. After ordering, an employee will bring the food to the customer while they are are able to track your food on your handy mobile phone. One manager mentioned that customers will also be able to call in large orders for restaurant pick up.

MCHS Senior Damian Bartlett said, “I could see it working out (by) offering to a broader amount of customers, people who can’t go out as often, (and) increasing the sales rate of the food. However, depending on where the houses are, they would be losing money on gas for the trips.” Bartlett, previously employed by McDonald’s, also stated, “It would help to shorten the lines, so it’s easier to get customers through the drive thru and dining room. The only downside I can see to that is customers calling in a huge order but never coming to pick it up.”

MCHS Junior Austin Cutshall and McDonald’s connoisseur said, “I think it would be a good service. If you would like to get food and you don’t have a lot of time, you can order it and have it brought to you. With the mobile orders, it would bring more revenue to the restaurant.” Austin only saw one downside to the app, “I think it’ll work out decently, but it’ll be harder on the places that don’t get delivered to as often.”
