Madison High School’s Junior and Senior Prom was held on May 13,2017 in the Conner K. Salm Gymnasium at Madison Consolidated High School. The decor was very impressive and elegant. Drapes were hung across the top of the ceiling, and tapestry was hung along the bleachers disguising them as a garden scene. Tables were set up along the side with centerpieces of tree slices and flower vases painted pink and gold. In the middle of the floor, there was a small tent with a candy bar. The left corner of the room was the location of the DJ and the dance floor, and the opposite side had food and drinks. The DJ played a wide variety of songs ranging from “Celebration” by Kool & The Gang to “T-Shirt” by Migos.

Prom Court was announced at 10:30 p.m. with Andy Holcroft and Keegan Ehlers winning prom prince and princess Casey Williams and Catherine Fisher winning King and Queen. Princess Ehlers said, “I was really surprised when Mr. Kelsey called my name for princess. I wasn’t expecting it all but I’m really thankful to have been chosen.”

At 12:30 a.m students began to have more fun at “After Prom.” People joined together in the cafeteria to eat and play corn-hole and then traveled down the hallway to C-Wing for milkshakes and the palm reader. Soon after, the hypnotist took over with his amusing and mesmerizing show. Fourteen students were hypnotized and taken to a “tropical island.” Bryce Teater even “won” ten thousand dollars.

After the hypnotist was finished, students returned to their seats and prizes were given away to the students whose names were drawn. Four seniors were lucky enough to receive either a refrigerator, TV, or microwave. The rest were given $25 gift cards to various restaurants. The juniors could have received a VIP parking pass to park in the teacher parking lot for a month next year or a gift card to various restaurants.

“The music could have been a little better, but overall prom was really fun and I had a good time with all my friends,” Teater said.
