On November 18, Bill Nye “The Science Guy,” was on the Hanover College campus to give his lecture named “The Earth is a Great Home, But We Have to Make Some Changes,” a speech on his parents’ life, global warming, and the future of America.

He began with his parents’ lives, going into detail about the time they lived in and about who they were as people. His father had a love for sundials which manifested in Nye later in life when he helped design sundials to be placed on Mars.

He then proceeded to present on global warming. He gave evidence of global warming such as the inconsistency of polar snow build up and the overwhelming pollution of China.

His final points touched on how we can work on resolving the issue. Some ideas were solar power, hydro power, wind power, and other alternative power sources. Although, he did posit that reverting the damage that climate change may have already caused could be impossible.
